- Yamato (named after Yamato Province) was a Japanese battleship of World War II. At 46 centimetres, their artillery had the largest caliber ever used for breech-loading guns on ships. The motif shows the ship and the name.
- The ship was built from 1937 to 1941 at the naval shipyard in Kure and subsequently used in the Pacific War, like her sister ship Musashi. The Yamato was sunk by US carrier aircraft on April 7, 1945.
